Minions Park, Universal Japan opened in the Spring of 2017 and is the world’s largest Minions themed land. The park is designed to mimic the feeling of a city park that has been overrun with Minions thus recreating the park in their own aesthetic. The park is anchored by The Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem ride and features the space killer carnival game, a toy store, a sweets factory, and a hotel all with a Minion-themed twist.
IDG assisted Universal Creative in providing schematic design documents that would be used as the basis for construction of the area development. We worked closely with Creative staff developing the thematic landscape design and addressing technical issues such as grading and accessibility. A streetscape and plant palette was developed to include topiaries, shade trees and colorful plantings. We also assisted with hardscape designs and patterning as part of the overall themed landscape.
